Our dentists at Guildford Heights Dental Centre offer professional teeth whitening as an effective method of helping to remove stains, improve your self-confidence and brighten your smile. In this post, we explain how the professional at-home teeth whitening process works.
Our teeth darken with age, and many foods and beverages can also cause staining and discolouration. Teeth whitening is a non-invasive cosmetic treatment that can quickly and effectively help to restore your smile’s appearance.
Professional Teeth Whitening
Our team of dental professionals at Guilford Heights Dental Centre offer custom teeth whitening systems to assist patients in eliminating stains from their teeth in the comfort of their home.
To receive professional teeth whitening treatment, you’ll need to make two visits to our Surrey dental centre.
At your first teeth whitening appointment, impressions (molds) of your teeth will be created so that the whitening trays can be custom-made to fit snugly to your teeth.
When you attend your second appointment, you’ll receive your custom whitening trays along with the whitening solution, plus detailed instructions on how to use the professional teeth whitening kit to achieve optimal results.
The Teeth Whitening Process
Your lightweight whitening trays will be comfortable to wear and come with specific instructions on how to apply the whitening treatment. Depending on the level of whitening you desire — and the degree of staining — you can expect to wear your trays with the whitening solution either overnight for a couple of weeks or twice a day for 30 minutes.
Generally, treatment takes between 10 and 14 days to achieve the level of whiteness you desired. Ask your dentist for advice if you are wondering how white is white enough.
Once you’ve completed your treatment, keep your whitening trays so you’ll have them ready for next time. When you’re ready, just contact our office for more of the whitening solution.
Important note: You may experience tooth sensitivity during the time you are whitening your teeth. This is common and should subside shortly after you have completed your treatment. Contact our office for advice if you are experiencing side effects from professional teeth whitening.
